An incredible addition to “Laptops for Learners”

An incredible addition to “Laptops for Learners”

300 modems ready to give to families in need

Since late 2019, we’ve been offering a program called “Laptops for Learners,” aimed at addressing digital equity by giving foster kids and kids from low-income households free refurbished laptops. This program has been wildly successful, supporting hundreds of families and over 1,000 kids. (If you want to learn more, KMTV just did a great piece on the program here.) Now, thanks to a new partnership, it’s going to get even better.

Last month, we partnered with USCellular to obtain 300 4G LTE cellular modems. These modems, which include 24 months of free internet service, will be distributed to kids from low-income families here in Omaha who do not have access to the internet in their homes.

For many families, this will be a game-changer. Around 40% of those who apply for laptops through our program report that they don’t have access to the internet at home. Now, those families will be able to get online, and have access for school, telehealth, and other needs.

We are so thankful to USCellular for their support of Laptops for Learners and the kids we support!
