Wow! Record Number of Laptops Distributed in 2023

What a cool thing!

I was adding up some figures from the year today, and I found myself stunned. As you may know, we have a program called Laptops for Learners, where we connect kids from foster and low-income families with free refurbished laptops and 4G LTE cellular modems. Every year, this program connects hundreds of kids with the technology they need to succeed.

This year, we’ve really been working hard on expanding the program and supporting more kids. As a result, we’ve nearly doubled both the number of laptops distributed as well as the number of kids supported. As of today, we’ve given out 245 laptops in 2023, and as a result, 509 kids now have access to the technology they need for school and beyond. That’s pretty amazing! Since starting this program at the end of 2019, over 1,500 kids’ lives have been impacted through the gift of more than 625 laptops distributed. If you do the math, just the value of the laptops themselves comes out to around $250,000!

Keeping this program going takes a lot of resources. Every year, we spend thousands of dollars on chargers, laptop batteries, and other components to make sure that kids get the best tech possible.
