What is a Community Partner?
Community Partners are organizations in the community who have partnered with Made New Makerspace to provide support to their youth in need of technology. These can be other nonprofits, schools, churches, or social service agencies.
How To Become a Community Partner
If your organization has not yet formally become a community partner, it’s easy to do so. Simply send an email to our Executive Director Jim Clements at jim@madenewomaha.com requesting that your organization be added to our Community Partners list. We’ll get you added, and you’ll be able to request laptops for your service recipients right away.
For Our Current Community Partners: Apply For Laptops Here.
If your organization is a current Community Partner, you may use the form below to request laptops for service recipients in your program. IMPORTANT: This form is NOT for individuals to request laptops for their children. Individuals seeking laptops should follow the instructions on our individual applicants page.
If you have any trouble with the form or this page, please reach out to our Executive Director, Jim Clements at jim@madenewomaha.com.
Note: you should hear a response back from Jim fairly quickly after you submit the form. If a day or two passes and you haven’t heard back on the status of your request, please email Jim and check in.
NEW: 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots and additional technology options
Made New Makerspace now offers 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots as part of our Laptops for Learners program. These modems are powered by US Cellular, and are intended for children from low-income families who are currently enrolled in school. As part of US Cellular’s program, these laptops are restricted in a few ways. First, they cannot access gaming or Movie/TV streaming, so they won’t work for things like X Box Live, Netflix, or related services. Second, they are equipped with CIPA (Child Internet Protection Act) compliant filtering, so most adult and questionable sites will not load on them. This is hardwired into the modem, and cannot be disabled.
Additionally, for our partners, we are expanding our technology offerings. In addition to PC-based laptops like we’ve always given out, you can also request a Mac-based laptop (please only request these if there is a pressing reason the youth needs a Mac as our numbers are quite limited), as well as refurbished 8-inch Android tablets. (These tablets are older, but still functional for things like documents and web browsing.)
If you have any questions about our new tech offerings, reach out to Jim.
IMPORTANT: After pressing the submit button on the form, you may need to scroll up to the top of the form to complete an anti-spam verification.
